On November 5, 2015, according to a presentation by the Prophet Nelson at BYU-Hawaii a few months later, a new revelation was received. This revelation was the reason for a change in the church handbook of instructions to be followed by all church leaders. The change in the handbook said that children of same sex couples would not be permitted to have a baby blessing and older children could not be baptized and so could not receive the gift of the holy ghost. The change to the handbook was picked up by a member who posted about it on reddit.com. This posting was elaborated and reposted by John Dehlin and it then attracted considerable attention. In response to the attention, the change received in the press, on Nov 6, Apostle Christofferson held a press conference to present some context for the change.
